A
Bachelor's degree can be an education milestone that will open
up doors and present you with opportunities to move even further upward.
With a Bachelor's degree, you gain an advantage over the competition
by having more training and more specialized skills. Your Bachelor's
degree is your ticket to a more successful career, more opportunity,
increased responsibility, and even more money.
A Bachelors degree is a traditional way people think
of college. Sometimes referred to as a "four-year degree",
a Bachelor's degree is an undergraduate degree that requires 120-128
semester credits, 60 of which can be transferred from community, junior,
or technical colleges. Bachelor's
degree programs involve general education, major courses in a
specific field, and electives. Students will be asked to declare a
major, usually within the first two years of college. Their
major will cover at least 30-45 credits of their bachelors degree.
The education is meant to give students a broad background to continue
onto graduate studies or to work. Different types of Bachelor's
degrees include
- B.A. - Bachelor of Arts
- B.S. - Bachelor of Science
- B.F.A - Bachelor of FIne Arts
- B.B.A. - Bachelor of Business Administration
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2006, workers who
had a Bachelors' degree had a median weekly earnings of $962, compared
with $595 a week for a high school graduate.
