About Southern Utah University

Southern Utah University (SUU) is a public university in Cedar City, Utah, United States. Founded in 1897 as a normal school, Southern Utah University now has over 1,800 graduates each year with baccalaureate and other graduate degrees from its six colleges. SUU offers more than 140 undergraduate and 19 graduate programs. More than 15,000 students attend SUU. SUU's 17 athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and are collectively known as the Thunderbirds. SUU joined the Western Athletic Conference in July 2022. Southern Utah University alumni include U.S. governors, members of the United States Congress, Olympians, athletes in the NFL, Golden Globe and Academy Award Winners.
