The State University of New York Buffalo State University (also referred to as SUNY Buffalo State University or Buffalo State University) is a public university in Buffalo, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. The intitution was originally founded in 1871 as the Buffalo Normal School to train teachers. It offers 79 undergraduate majors with 11 honors options, 11 post baccalaureate teacher certification programs, and 64 graduate programs. It was formerly known as the State University College at Buffalo (then branded as the Buffalo State College) before the 2023 status change.
