It was founded in 1886 and is part of the University of Tennessee System. The university is composed of five colleges, offering over 150 degree programs and concentrations, including 6 doctoral degree programs. As of fall 2025, UTC enrolled 12,060 students, including over 10,000 undergraduates and more than 1,600 graduate students.
